Everything is lit and nothing is obscured. The Sun brings straightforward good fortune — the offer lands, the results come back clear, the day is simply good. What makes this card rare is not the luck but the permission: you are allowed to say so.
A naked child rides a white horse beneath an enormous sun with a human face. A red banner streams overhead, and four sunflowers rise above the garden wall behind. The wall is real, but the child is on the outside of it, bareback and entirely unafraid. Whatever this figure feels is worn on the outside, where anyone can see it.
Origins & Symbolism
The Sun draws on the oldest solar imagery of life and clarity — the source that hides nothing. The 1909 Rider-Waite-Smith card seats a naked child on a white horse beneath a great human-faced sun, a red banner streaming, four sunflowers rising over a garden wall. The child rides outside the wall, unguarded and unafraid: joy worn openly, good fortune fully lit and unashamed.
