The Chariot is the card of directed force — momentum you control, aimed at one thing until it gives.

Upright meaning
Momentum is finally on your side, and the steering is yours. Opposing pressures — other people's opinions, your own contradictory impulses — get yoked together and pulled in a single direction. Victory here is not luck. It is refusing to be dragged off the line.

Origins & Symbolism
The Chariot draws on the Roman triumph — the victory procession that gave the trionfi, the trump cards, their name. Smith's 1909 charioteer stands armored beneath a canopy of stars, drawn by two sphinxes facing opposite ways, a walled city already behind him. He holds no reins and steers by will alone. Seven carries the sense of hard-won mastery over opposing pulls.
Reading It For Yourself
Name the destination first — the Chariot is useless without one. It answers questions about drive: can you hold your line against the pull of other people and your own contradictions? In an outcome slot it promises victory to whoever refuses to be dragged off course; as advice, pick one aim and make the rest wait. Reversed, the wheels turn but nothing arrives — force is standing in for direction.
